A Manual on Work and Happiness – a documentary (2018)

Un gruppo di persone, seguendo un manuale di istruzioni, crea uno spettacolo.Metodicamente, hanno creato paesaggi relativi a diverse parti del mondo. Lavorano. Collaborano e interagiscono per svolgere i loro compiti. Fare uno spettacolo, per quanto sia divertente, richiede lavoro. È faticoso. Per intrattenere se stessi e il pubblico, queste persone, mentre lavorano, raccontano alcune storie. E speculano su come sarà il lavoro nel futuro: chi lo farà, come sarà fatto, per chi.

A group of people, following an instruction manual, creates a performance. Methodically, they set up landscapes of different parts of the world. They work. They collaborate and interact to fulfil their tasks. The creation of a performance can be fun but it takes a lot of work. It is tiring. To entertain themselves and the audience, while working, they tell stories. And they explore what work will be in the future: who will do it, how it will be done, for whom…

A Manual on Work and Happiness – documentario segue un progetto partecipativo culminato in una performance teatrale basata su un “manuale di istruzioni” – messo in scena grazie alla partecipazione di volenterosi cittadini – attori per l’occasione provenienti da Pergine Valsugana, che hanno seguito un intenso processo creativo in una residenza artistica con la compagnia portoghese mala voadora.

A Manual on Work and Happiness – the documentary follows a participatory project culminating in a theatrical performance of the same name based on an “instruction manual” – staged with the participation of active citizens – actors for the occasion coming from the surrounding of Pergine Valsugana (Trento), who have followed an intense creative process during an artistic residence with the Portuguese company mala voadora.

A Manual on Work and Happiness è un progetto finanziato da Europa Creativa della durata di due anni (2017-2018), nato dalla collaborazione tra sei organizzazioni: Artemrede e le municipalità di Alcobaça e Montijo sue associate (Portogallo), Pergine Spettacolo Aperto e L’arboreto – Teatro Dimora di Mondaino (Italia) e il teatro municipale e regionale di Patrasso (Grecia). Inoltre sono partner artistici: la compagnia di teatro sperimentale portoghese mala voadora e lo scrittore e drammaturgo spagnolo Pablo Gisbert.

A Manual on Work and Happiness is a two-year project funded by Creative Europe (2017-2018), created by the collaboration between six organizations: Artemrede and the municipalities of Alcobaça and Montijo (Portugal), Pergine Spettacolo Aperto and L’arboreto – Teatro Dimora di Mondaino (Italy) and the Municipal Theatre of Patras (Grecia). As artistic partners, the project includes the Portuguese experimental theater company mala voadora and the Spanish writer and playwright Pablo Gisbert.
